my story
My route into filmmaking wasn’t exactly planned. At 17, while working as a labourer at Shepperton Studios, I found myself maintaining the ice rink set of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for a few days. I was hooked, instantly.
I went on to train as an actor at ArtsEd, london, followed by a career that took me from the West End and the RSC to theatres around the UK and overseas. Along the way, I began making films of my own and discovered a real flair for filmmaking. I loved the whole process - developing an idea, working with actors, solving problems on set and shaping the final story in the edit. Before long, working behind the camera felt every bit as natural as performing in front of it.
That slightly unconventional route still shapes how I work today. I’m a director and filmmaker who loves actors, storytelling and good ideas, but I’m equally happy rolling up my sleeves and finding the most practical way to get something made. From short films and theatre to businesses, brands and everything in between, I like helping people turn an idea into something worth watching.
my process
Sometimes there’s a finished brief, sometimes just the beginnings of an idea. Either way, every project starts with a conversation - getting to the heart of what you’re trying to achieve and finding the most effective way to bring it to screen.
From there, I can take care of as much or as little of the process as you need - developing the idea, planning the shoot, directing and filming, through to the edit and final delivery.
I’m practical about budgets, collaborative in the way I work, and always looking for ways to get more on screen from the resources available.
experience
My experience has taken me through a lot of different rooms — from professional theatre and film sets to large-scale multi-camera productions, corporate shoots, classrooms and workshops in the UK and internationally.
I’ve worked as an actor, director, editor and producer; directed theatre; created award-winning work; taught and directed young performers overseas; and developed film projects for young people from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
That variety has become one of my biggest strengths. I’m as comfortable working with a professional crew or corporate client as I am directing an actor, helping a young performer find their confidence, or figuring out how to make an ambitious idea work with the time and budget available.
